At the final destination

Arriving at Fort St John airport, the 12th and final airport of Feb 12

Taffy, the dog belonging to George and Carol who is currently wandering the office.
I have arrived safely to my new home in Fort St John. The best way I can describe it is white and cold. When I arrived it was -13^C with a wind chill taking it to about -28^C. I was met at the Airport by George, the director at Blueberry, and we did some jobs in Fort St John. One of the best things was getting some snow boots. God provided amazingly in this regard and I got some good boots normally $60 for only $9!

George then took me to the place where I will be living for the next couple of months till some other arrive as summer staff at the lodge. I am going to be boarding with an older widow. The house is lovely and warm and she is wonderful. I am looking forward to more time with her. Her Son and family live on the farm that her house is on and they came around to visit.
View from my bedroom window.

View from the lounge. I don't have a picture of the outside of the house as  that would have involved getting all wrapped up to go out to take it.

Road out to camp.

The lodge. The Office is in the basement level on the right.

The cabin view from the upstairs of lodge

Pepsi, the friendly dog that lives at camp. Belongs to the maintenance man.

It is so nice to be unpacked and somewhere I can call home. Right now I am sitting in what will be my office at Blueberry. The temperature outside is -20 but it has stopped snowing and the sun is even out. I do not have internet at home so will only be able to email and skype when at work so will be trying to be a good steward about the time I spend doing that.

Today has been a quiet day, getting bearing and looking at what is coming up. We have a girls retreat this weekend which should be fun and full of learning.
My office!

  2. Hard to believe it is too cold to go outside to take a photo while we are cooking here, and all on the same planet. When we have such a variance on one planet, how can people believe that we can live on other planets. Great to keep up to date with how things are going and that they are looking after you. I bet you are excited. Your office looks roomy but I can't see the soft sofa or the coffee machine... just kidding. At least you are well watered.

  3. Looks funtastic. Feel a bit sorry for the mutt outside. :-( He must have good hair between his toes. :-)
I gather that is a bed on it's side for when you get snowed in?
