Spring

Spring officially has been here for a month but I would say it has still been cold with two fresh lots of an inch or so of snow this week. However, there have been geese flying by and temperatures in the double digits above zero. Then today as I pulled up to camp I noticed the green grass starting to grow.....

A CAR

God is faithful in answering prayer. Last week a lady gifted a mini van to camp, and I have the use of it. The timing is amazing as I am going to eight different schools over the next two weeks to tell them about camp.

We were at the Fort St John Trade show from Friday till Sunday. I picked the car up on Friday afternoon. When we came out of the trade show it had been snowing. I was thankful that I was staying in town for the weekend so didn't have to drive all the way home. However at this point I learnt some good information.....
Do not leave things in the car if you don't want them to be freezing to touch, eg Pjammas
Having a scraper/brush is an important thing to have in the car. But if you do not have them winding down the window is not a good idea for getting snow off. It may just fall inwards!!!
I am sure there will be some more lessons for me to learn.

The view of the car when I got up in to morning. It is the second minivan. I decided I would walk the block to the tradeshow rather than 'play' with the snow.

This is what it looks like with no snow covering it!

At the Farm

On Saturday I spent the day on the farm with a wonderful family. The older girls had invited me to come so that I could be worn out from doing things. It was such a fun day. When I first arrived Amy took me to see her foal, flash, that had just been born that morning. He was lovely and let me near enough to it to pat him, he was so soft. Throughout the day I got to see and do many new things.

Lacey and I went for a walk to see the calves. While we were down there her uncle came in to rope some calves and cows for treatments.
I was amazed at the discipline of the horses. Even when the rider was off it stood exactly in the same place even when the cow on the ground was fighting.
After lunch we caught the horses and I learnt how to put on the saddle and bridle and we went for a ride. This is Amy and Mandy on their horses ready to go. The horse I was riding was Chase. It was a great ride.
The youngest of the family Kenton rode Dolly the horse till it decided it wanted to do its own thing.

We got back from the ride just as Riely was milking their milk cows so he taught me and I got to milk a cow for the first time.
For dinner we had a picnic. The younger kids had been playing Indians for most of the day and were very excited when they found out they were going to cook our dinner on their fire. We had sausages, bread rolls, chips and salad. And yes that is some snow you can still see.
To end the day there was a beautiful sunset on the drive home.

It certainly was a wonderful day with a wonderful family.
